There is a quieter side to Tarifa: walks through the old town, afternoons by the sea and time together over a lovely meal. In late October, Halloween and All Saints’ Day offer another reason to discover it.
A celebration rooted in local life
1 November, All Saints’ Day, is a time to remember loved ones who are no longer with us. Many families visit cemeteries and bring flowers, continuing a tradition that remains close to people’s hearts. All Souls’ Day follows on 2 November.
In Tarifa, we also celebrate Tosantos, a local tradition centred on markets, autumn produce and community life. Browsing the stalls, meeting neighbours and sharing something delicious are all part of its charm.
Halloween among squares and castle walls
Halloween brings a playful touch to these celebrations. For 2026, local reports announce stalls in Plaza de Santa María, Tosantos activities at the Central and Virgen del Carmen markets, and a theatrical Halloween experience by Sueña Tarifa at Guzmán el Bueno Castle. A setting steeped in history for an evening of mystery.
Before planning your visit, check the final programme and admission details for each activity.

The flavours of November
Chestnuts, walnuts and buñuelos, traditional sweet fritters, accompany Tarifa’s Tosantos celebrations. It is also the season for mushrooms and comforting stews, perfect after a morning outdoors.
For a distinctly local treat, look out for cajillas de almendra: traditional almond pastries associated with Christmas that can already be found at this time of year. A delicious little indulgence with your coffee.
Your cosy autumn retreat
Enjoy the atmosphere of the town, take a stroll along the beach and return to a welcoming holiday home. The light at this time of year is spectacular, inviting you to explore the landscape and linger over sunsets by the sea.
At Tarifa Connections, we continue to organise activities throughout autumn: surfing sessions, guided hikes and e-bike rides to discover the coast and surrounding countryside at your own pace.
We help you find your holiday home and share our favourite places and local flavours. As a couple, with friends or as a family, come and discover autumn in Tarifa with us.
